Welcome to Electric Asset Management (EAM). We handle the strategic planning, standards, procedures, and risk management for electric system assets within Transmission, Distribution, and Substation categories. The Distribution group within EAM uses risk-informed strategies, inspection insights, and asset data to guide maintenance and investment decisions.
The Distribution Asset Risk Management (ARM) team includes Asset Failure Analysis (AFA), Asset Insights, and Inspections & Maintenance Strategy (I&M). This team focuses on continually enhancing PG&E's asset monitoring and maintenance strategies to maintain a resilient and reliable grid while ensuring community safety. The Manager will lead the I&M Team.
Position Summary
As a leader in Electric Asset Management, you will focus on ensuring that distribution assets deliver safe, reliable, and sustainable energy through strategic asset planning and management. The Inspections and Maintenance strategy is vital for managing over 2.3 million distribution wood poles and more than 80,000 circuit miles of primary conductors. The team oversees short-term and long-term I&M strategies and continuously improves inspection procedures and technology with insights from technical testing, failure analysis, and expertise. The candidate will also interact with external regulatory bodies to provide updates on I&M programs and commitments.
The I&M team is currently involved in several key initiatives that require a skilled leader:

Megabundling Expansion: The shift to circuit-based inspections aims to replicate the success of the “Megabundling” maintenance tag approach, enhancing risk assessment efficiency and reducing costs in the future.

Drone-based GO165 Certification: Plans are underway for a pilot project in 2026 to evaluate aerial inspections. The goal is to approve drone-based data collection for meeting GO165 detailed inspection standards.

Asset Health Monitoring: By leveraging innovative sensors and AI technologies, the team aims to revolutionize traditional maintenance and explore risk-targeted asset management approaches.
This position involves a flexible work arrangement, combining remote work with attendance at assigned work locations as necessary.
The salary range presented reflects what the company believes to be an accurate estimate at the job posting time. Actual pay considers factors such as specific skills, education, certifications, experience, market conditions, location, and internal equity. It is anticipated that the hired candidate will be placed near the middle or entry level of the range, subject to individual factors.

Job Responsibilities
- Develops and manages inspection and tag maintenance work plans, covering detailed GO165, infrared, and Pole Test and Treat programs.
- Contributes to the development of the annual Wildfire Mitigation Plan (WMP) and certain General Rate Case (GRC) chapters.
- Provides updates to leadership teams and executives.
- Collaborates with Compliance staff to meet regulatory requirements, providing necessary information and engaging with regulators.
- Forms and implements policies, standards, and procedures.
- Ensures distribution infrastructure strategies align with company goals and stakeholder input.
- Utilizes data-driven tools for asset strategy planning and sustainability.
- Handles departmental budgets, monitoring expenses, and providing justifications for variances.
- Oversees assigned distribution asset programs, ensuring timely completion within budget.
- Manages supervisors and professionals, focusing on recruitment, development, and performance management.
Qualifications
Minimum:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience
- Project life cycle experience
- 8 years of experience in engineering, operations, or business
Desired:
- 15 years of experience with cycle time planning and distribution assets
- Master's Degree in a related discipline or equivalent experience
- Proven ability to create data-driven strategies and manage large infrastructure projects
- Success in team management
- Knowledge of Electric Distribution inspections and maintenance
- Familiarity with CPUC General Orders 95 and 165
