<p> <strong>Position Function:</strong> </p> <p>The position can be filled by a non-tenure track Assistant/Associate/Full Professor of Practice. Candidates with measurable years of industry, agency, and/or faculty experience are highly preferred. The Richard A. Rula School of Civil & Environmental Engineering within the Bagley College of Engineering has multiple endowed opportunities (professorship or chair) for highly qualified candidates. The position is anticipated to be filled in August of 2026. While any area of civil or environmental engineering can be considered, measurable expertise in one or more of the following areas are of particular interest: asphalt pavement systems, buried or underground structures, concrete bridges, construction materials, structural health monitoring, and trenchless technologies. The candidate is expected to work with undergraduate and graduate students in and out of the classroom and any tenure track option is also expected to engage students in research that can be published in high quality venues.<br /><br />**A tenure track position (PARF# 509401) is also available but only one position will be filled**</p> <p><strong> Salary Grade </strong>:  UC</p> <p>For salary grade UC, these positions are "Unclassified" and salary ranges are determined by the hiring department.</p> <p><strong> Anticipated Appointment Date: </strong></p> <p>August 16, 2026</p> <p><strong> Tenure Track Status: </strong></p> <p>Non-Tenure Track</p> <p><strong> Essential Duties and Responsibilities: </strong></p> <p>The candidate is responsible for supporting the teaching, research, and outreach mission of the department and performing assigned administrative duties.</p> <p><strong> Minimum Qualifications: </strong></p> <p>Ph.D. in Civil or Environmental Engineering or a Ph.D. in closely related area with a B.S. in Civil Engineering from an EAC/ABET certified institution.</p> <p><strong> Preferred Qualifications: </strong></p> <p>Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.<br />Professional and academic experience. <br />A potential for teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level in several areas of the civil engineering program.<br />An interest in developing an externally funded research program and supporting graduate and undergraduate research competencies. <br />Preference for candidates with a Professional Engineering license.</p> <p><strong> Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: </strong></p> <p>Successful candidates will ideally have an earned B.S. and Ph.D. in civil engineering from an institution offering ABET-accredited (or equivalent) degrees. Professional and academic experience is highly desirable. Tenure-track candidates should have a potential for sustaining a vigorous externally funded research program and a dynamic portfolio of graduate and undergraduate educational competencies.
