Job Title: Heavy Equipment Material Handler / Yard Associate (Outdoor Construction Environment)
Location: East Indianapolis, IN
Pay Rate: $20.00/hour
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Overtime: Optional overtime available on Saturdays

Position Overview

We are seeking a dependable and experienced Heavy Equipment Material Handler to support daily operations in a fast-paced, outdoor yard environment. This is not a traditional warehouse role—this position operates in a construction-style setting with consistent exposure to the elements.

Candidates must be comfortable working outdoors year-round in heat, cold, rain, and varying weather conditions while handling heavy fencing materials and operating multiple types of equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Load and unload fencing materials (posts, panels, gates, etc.) from trucks and trailers
  • Operate heavy equipment to transport materials throughout the yard
  • Stage and organize materials for deliveries and job site preparation
  • Work in an outdoor yard environment under all weather conditions
  • Assist with inventory movement and yard organization
  • Conduct basic equipment inspections and report maintenance needs
  • Follow all safety protocols and maintain awareness of surroundings at all times

Equipment Experience Required

  • Sit-down propane forklift
  • Diesel forklift
  • Skid steer

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • 70% outdoor work environment – exposure to heat, cold, rain, wind, and dust
  • Construction-style yard setting (uneven surfaces, mud, gravel, etc.)
  • Ability to lift 50–75+ lbs consistently
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and equipment operation throughout the shift
  • Must be comfortable working extended hours and overtime as needed

Qualifications

  • Proven experience operating forklifts and skid steer equipment
  • Previous experience in construction yard, lumber yard, or heavy material handling preferred
  • Strong work ethic and reliability—this is a physically demanding role
  • Safety-focused with attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Pay: $20.00 per hour

Experience:

  • Forklift: 3 years (Required)
  • Skid steer loader: 3 years (Required)

  • English (Required)

License/Certification:

  • Indiana Driver's License (Required)
